If you’ve ever moved house, you’ll know it can be a very stressful period, but it really doesn’t have to be. All you need to do is make sure you properly plan your move to ensure there are no tears and tantrums on the day. After all, moving to a new home is an exciting experience that you should enjoy!
The first tip we want to mention is to flatten cardboard boxes over your flooring. This will help to protect your flooring during the move with all those heavy boxes, as you don’t want to finish up moving to find you’ve made unnecessary damages that will cost you.
Then when you’re ready to start moving boxes in, make sure they are clearly labelled with which room they are due to be unboxed in, and also have a description of the inside contents of the box. It’s also a good idea to place these stickers on both the top and sides of the box so you can still read what’s inside even when boxes are stacked.
Make sure to move all your furniture pieces before you start unloading boxes, though, because nobody wants to end up rearranging boxes again to fit in their furniture. Another handy tip is to place all your screws and bolts from the furniture into plastic freezer bags and then attach these to your furniture to keep everything safe together!
And finally, it may seem obvious and a little trivial, but buy lightbulbs to take to your new place. There would be nothing worse than realising you don’t have any and having to use up valuable moving time to go to the shops to buy some.
