You’ve made it to your new property in one piece – so what next? Unpacking. Don’t be fooled into thinking that the worst is over because unpacking is just as much of a nightmare as packing. Unpacking can take forever – not only do you need to take your belongings out of the boxes but you also need to work out where to put them. You don’t want to be five months down the line and your spare room is full of boxes that you haven’t got round to unpacking yet so just bite the bullet and get it all done. Here are some points on the best way to unpack:

• If you want to unpack quickly it’s all about the way you pack in the first place. Basically, you need to pack the way you would unpack. Pack up one drawer at a time as exactly as you had it in your old home so when you unpack everything in the one box will be going to the exact same place.

• We have a really useful tip for packing your clothes too – don’t. Instead of taking your clothes off their coat hangers and folding them up why don’t you just place them in the back of your car as they are so you can place them straight into your new closest space without any hassle? If you have clothes in your chest of drawers don’t bother packing them either. Just take out the drawers and leave the clothes in them.

• Labelling boxes is also really useful as you don’t want to start rummaging through tonnes of boxes at 3am trying to find the kettle.

So, the best way to unpack is all in the packing. If you follow our tips it should take you no longer than week to unpack. Then you can start enjoying your new home.
